Scarborough Athletic Treasurer Geoff Osguthorpe and local footballer Aaron Birley have completed a swimming charity challenge to raise money for Boro and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Osguthorpe, who is also the chairman of the NCEL club’s financial sub-committee, said: “At the indoor pool both Aaron and I completed our swimming challenge of 4 miles (257 laps) in 3 hours and 13 minutes, we had to do it within 3 hours 30 minutes
”This is the furthest we both have swam before, though we had done some training in the months leading up to it. The monies raised from our challenge is to be split between MacMillan Cancer Care and Scarborough Athletic FC.”
He added: “We want to thank everyone for their great support and sponsorship, we hope to have raised between £700 and £800 once all monies have been collected in.
“The 257 lengths was the amount of competitive goals Boro had scored while I’ve been on the board before the start of this season and this funnily enough came to around four miles!”
