FILEY Flyers will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s Senior Cup quarter-final loss at Strongwood Reserves with a cup win at home to Tonics tomorrow.

The Flyers opened the scoring in the game against Strongwood last week through Will Hunter.

After the interval Strongwood stepped up a gear, after a couple of tactical switches from boss Steve Mainprize, mainly Eric Hall moving up front from his midfield starting role.

Hall repaid his manager’s faith with two goals, while Chris Sowray also weighed in with a brace, Bobby Penny completing the scoring for Strongwood.

Dave Pallister, moved up to left midfield from his usual left-back role, was picked out as man of the match by Mainprize, who also praised Damien Devine.

The Flyers wlll be aiming to net a cup win in their Kenward Cup quarter-final against fellow second division side Tonics tomorrow, 10am ko.

FC Filey, who were thumped 9-1 at Trafalgar last week in their Senior Cup quarter-final are back in second division action at leaders Merchant tomorrow, 10.30am kick-off.

Scott Sheldon scored Filey’s goal in the cup loss at top-flight Traf.

FC Filey Reserves face a tough trip to face third-placed Pirates in the third divison tomorrow, while Hunmanby FC play host to fourth-placed Itis Itis. Both games kick off at 10.30am.
