Scarborough Athletic are a big club and a big pull, but at the moment things are not ideal because of where we are in the table.
Because of our situation it can take quite a lot of convincing to bring lads in.
I know plenty of players who would be an option, but many deal in contracts, which is something this club doesn’t.
Frustratingly, we do need to bring a couple in because we are crying out for a bit of help up front.
In the defence and midfield I think we have enough, but Tom Corner and Ryan Blott need a bit of support at the moment.
I’ve been asking players and clubs, but a few of the pro clubs I talk to have said that we are possibly one division too low.
I understand a bit more about things now though, having been at this club for just over three weeks.
When I arrived we were leaking goals, but those leaks have been plugged now and we look more solid as a defensive unit.
We are defending as a team now, which has made us harder to beat.
Now we just need the rewards that the players’ efforts deserve.
We deserved at least a point out of Tuesday night’s game against Brighouse, but it was just another one of those games.
Their goal was an absolute worldy, most of the time that would have ended up on Bridlington’s beach rather than in the top corner.
Then we had the chance right at the end that fell to Tom (Corner).
Having got into the position he tried to ease it in, rather than putting his foot through the ball.
But the block their defender made on the line was unbelievable. If that had been in a Football League match then that would have been on Sky Sports all week.
After that game we all sat down in the changing room and had a debate about things, to see what the players thought.
There were no criticisms in there, just observations, which will hopefully help us going forward.
I think the main thing we need to maintain is physically matching teams and being horrible across the park, especially in attack.
If we do that, then our rewards will definitely come.
