PICKERING Town will be looking to continue their superb form when they travel to Hall Road Rangers in the NCEL premier division this weekend.
The PIkes have now won three and drawn one of their last four matches, and are pushing up towards the top six in the table.
Their most recent wins were a midweek 6-2 hammering of Armthorpe Welfare at Mill Lane, followed by a 2-0 home win against Maltby Main on Satrurday.
In the romp against Armthorpe Welfare, leading scorer Liam Salt led the way with goals in the 17th and 55th minute, taking his season’s tally to 26 in the league and cup.
Rising star Lewis Taylor also scored two goals in the 41st and 82nd minutes, while John Heads hit two goals in rapid succcession in the 77th and 78th minutes.
On Saturday, Jimmy Reid’s team secured victory thanks to a goal two minutes before half-time from Liam Shepherd and a goal two minutes from time by Steve Baxter.
The Pikes were due to play their re-arranged North Riding FA Senior Cup quarter-final against Grangetown Boys Club at Thornaby FC last night, with the possibility of switching it to Mill Lane if Thornaby’s pitch was not deemed fit for play.
If Town were successful they will be at home to Guisborough Town in the semi-finals, with Marske United playing host to York City in the other half of the draw a week tonight.
Pickering hammered Hall Road Rangers 4-1 back in September, so they will be eager to tie up a double and continue their progress up the league standings.
