Fourteen young athletes of Scarborough AC competed in the third round of the Youth Development League Division Two East at the Clairville Stadium in Middlesbrough.
The top scorer for the club was George Austin-Thompson who won the under-13 ‘A’ 100 metres and was equal first in the ‘A’ high jump.
He completed a very successful meeting with a personal best in the ‘A’ 200 metres at which he was the runner-up.
There was a second league victory for Emma Clapton who was a clear winner in the under-15s ‘A’ 1500 metres.
Jack Coldbeck who has competed in all three league fixtures this season achieved a notable win in the under-15s ‘A’ javelin.
He was also fifth in the ‘A’ 100 metres and third in the ‘B’ long jump.
The top scorer of the six Scarborough girls was Chloe Calvert-Best who made a very good league debut when competing in three under-13s ‘A’ events.
Chloe was second in the 800 metres and fifth in both the 75 metres and long jump.
The next highest girl’s scorer was Abigail Pollard who was second in the under-15s ‘A’ 200 metres with a personal best time, and was third in the ‘A’ 100 metres.
Three other three Scarborough girls all achieved personal best performances in their events.
Asha Wright achieved personal best performances in all three of her events.
She was the runner-up in the ‘B’ 100 metres and the ‘A’ discus, and was third in the ‘A’ javelin.
Evie Barnes achieved her personal best in the under-13s ‘A’ high jump when finishing as the joint runner up.
She was also second in the ‘B’ long jump and fourth in the ‘A’ 70 metres hurdles.
Chloe Riley equalled her best in the under-15s ‘A’ 75 metres hurdles when finishing in fifth.
She also bettered her previous long jump when finishing sixth in the ‘A’ long jump, and was also second in the ‘B’ javelin.
In the boys events, Josh Lee came close to a win in the under-13s ‘B’ 100 metres when he finished as the runner up.
He was also third in the ‘B’ 200 metres and fifth in the ‘A’ shot.
Four of the club members were making their league debut at this meeting.
Alfie Cotterill was the most successful in the under-15 jump events with a fourth place in the ‘A’ high jump and equal fourth in the ‘A’ high jump.
He was also third in the ‘B’ 100 metres.
Harry Colbeck also a very good league debut in the under-13s when finishing as the runner up in the ‘A’ javelin.
He was also the runner up in the ‘B’ 800 metres, and the third in the ‘B’ long jump.
Christian Mummert made a good start in the under-13s age group with a third place in the ‘A’ 1500 metres.
He was also the runner up in the ‘B’ high jump and fourth in the ‘A’ .
Sam Clapton, who regularly competes at fell and cross country races for the club, made a good track debut when finishing as the runner up in the under-13s ‘B’ 1500 metres.
Edward Hildreth, who was also competing in his third league meeting as an under-13, ran well to finish fourth in the ’A’ 800 metres.
He was also third in the ‘B’ javelin and fourth in the ‘B’ shot.
The Scarborough team increased their points score from the previous meeting, but had to settle for sixth place at the match, and remain sixth overall in the league.
