Former Scarborough Paragon Cycling Club member James Gullen returned to the local roads for Tuesday's final 10-mile inter-club event at Snainton.

Professional rider Gullen joined 42 riders at the start line, helped by marshals on every junction.

There was a buzz around the field, just to see what Gullen could now manage around the Snainton course, and it was expected that the club record would be smashed.

James' father Ray, who rides for Paragon, was thinking a sub 20 minute ride could be done, which equates to an average speed of 30 mph on a sporting course.

James obliged with a winning time of 19 minutes 42 seconds.
