Fans of Scarborough’s greatest sportsman Paul Ingle turned out in force at the official launch of his autobiography yesterday.

Ingle was greeted by a long line of fans wanting to grab a signed copy of The Yorkshire Hunter.

Already up to number three in the boxing book charts, the rollercoaster story of Ingle is expected to shove heavyweight legend Mike Tyson’s Undisputed Truth off top spot.

Ingle was quick to thank the fans who turned out in force to pick up their copy.

He said: “I really do appreciate the support.

“They supported me during my career in the ring and they’ve been first class coming out to the signing.”

Former British, Commonwealth, European and IBF and IBO world champion Ingle also thanked author Paul Zanon and his family.

He added: “I have to thank Paul (Zanon), he’s done a cracking job with the book and he’s been there from the start, filling me with tears throughout the process.

“The book is 10 years overdue, but it’s great that it’s finally out.

“Sonny Pollard has made all this happen and I have to thank him too.

“My mum Carol and brother Dean have always been there , I have to thank them.”

Author Zanon was delighted with the turnout and the support for the book.

He said: “To be able to put Paul back in the spotlight is fantastic.

“Sonny got in touch with me in May 2013 and it’s been a long process.

“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, just like the book really, there’s been a lot of tears.

“We’re coming for Tyson, we’re going to take that number one spot.

“Scarborough people are probably the most loyal bunch I’ve encountered, it’s phenomenal.”

Paul’s mum Carol, who penned a chapter herself, added: “It was an emotional process.

“I’m over the moon for him.

“I have to thank Paul Zanon and Sonny, they’ve been great.

“I’ve had people telling me what a great book it is and I’m told it could be number one by the weekend.”
