Scarborough-based riders Lewis Scott, and his father Mike Scott travelled to Ferrybridge for the opening race of the season.
This was a 10-mile time trial at Brotherton, a tough course with many roundabouts and a climb at around the halfway mark.
Both are now riding for Team Swift, near Hull, so they can team up with their cycling coach Pete Read after leaving Scarborough Paragon cycling club last season.
Lewis, who was ranked 10th in the best British all-rounder competition in 2011, and is ranked as Yorkshire’s best all-rounder is hoping to have an even better 2012 season.
Lewis, riding in the under-18s section, won his section with a great time of 25.05, beating two riders from Holme Valley Wheelers Amira Mellor (29.55) and Joe Williams (32.35).
Mike clocked 25.31 finishing 30th from round 70 riders.
The event was won by the Scotts’ team-mate Alastair Wareham in 21.54.
