George Rhodes Jnr makes his long-awaited return to the ring on Friday evening at The Barnsley Metrodome and he’s eyeing up a fifth straight win as a pro against Steven Backhouse.

Rhodes, 24, last fought in March when he out-pointed Ali Wyatt before a wrist injury prevented him from lacing up the gloves until now.
The Westway-based welterweight insists he’s ready to return to action.
“I’m feeling good, I can’t wait to get back in the ring,” he said.
“I’ve been working very hard in the boxing gym, getting some good sparring in with the likes of Tom Knight and Danny Little and also cracking on with a lot of strength and conditioning.”
Backhouse, who stopped Dale Arrowsmith in the first round earlierthis month in his last outing, will no doubt come full of confidence, and Rhodes insists that will suit him.
He added: “He’ll be confident after his win and I think he’ll come for me, hopefully he will and will walk on to one.
“I’ll have decent support there, I’m excited for it now.”
