Forty-eight players at Scarborough Indoor Bowling Club worked off the effects of seasonal over-eating by taking part in the Christmas Tournament.

Geoff Bint ran this popular triples competition last Thursday and presented the prizes at the close. Each team played four games with two points for a win and one for a draw.

Finishing in first place by winning all their games for eight points plus 27 shots were John Punter and David and Kath Rowe.

Runners-up with seven points plus 26 shots were Stuart Stamford and Peter and Margaret Jaques, while third place went to Tom and Sandra Robinson and Margaret McDonald with six points plus 41 shots.

In the final 2012 fixture in the Over-55s League division one, the men’s team had just one winning rink which resulted in a 16-2 defeat by Featherstone. Stuart Stamford, Alan Horton, Peter Simpson and skip John Punter were the winning team with a commendable 23-14 home victory.
