VIDEO: Matt Conner’s video tips

This week I had a message on Twitter asking for a drill which would help to play better shots from a fairway bunker.

You only need a penny for this drill. Start by placing the penny on top of the sand and practice swinging over the top without striking the penny.

This will give you the swing motion you require when hitting a fairway bunker shot. You only want to clip the ball from off the surface of the sand; at no point do you want to hit the sand behind the ball.

Once you are comfortable with this motion now place a ball in the bunker and place the penny behind. Now trying to miss the penny again this will give you the clean strike you need to generate the power to help your ball travel the distance you need.
