Mud In Your Blood’s open day proved to be a blazing success in the spring sunshine on Sunday afternoon.
The Scarborough youth and community off-road motorcycle club, which has a track based on Seamer Road next to Dean’s Garden Centre, has been running since 2010.
The club’s chairman Pete Goodworth said: “It was a lovely, sunny day which helped as we had lots of newcomers having a go on the bikes and quads.
“We had put a lot of work in over the winter to get the track right it was great to get a good turn-out.
“We also held a barbecue and a tombola to help raise funds for the summer season. We usually have a session every Saturday from 12noon to 4pm and when the nights get lighter, in April, we have Wednesday evening sessions from 5pm to 8pm.”
Goodworth added: “A lot of youngsters come along to try out the sport before they head into the competitive side of the sport.
“The only thing we ask for all riders is that they have proper boots and a helmet for safety reasons.”
Anyone wanting to go along for a sessions should text the 07584730075 and ask to hire a bike, which range from 50cc up to 140cc, costing £15 per session.
The non-profit, charity-driven and family friendly group was set up to tackle the nuisance and dangers associated with illegal off-road riding in the town and to offer safe and affordable access to the sport for Scarborough communities.
