Whitby Wanderers 1 (Kilpatrick) Trafalgar 6 (Barker 3, B Salt, Caw, MacAuley)
Reserve striker Mikey Barker banged in a hat-trick as a depleted Trafalgar started their title defence with a 6-1 win at top-flight new boys Whitby Wanderers.
The home side were already 2-0 down by the time they suffered an injury to their keeper, forcing boss Mark Jackson to take over in goal.
Also on target for the visitors was man of the match Ali Caw, Ben Salt and Dean MacAuley.
Mikey Kilpatrick scored to bring it back to 4-1 after half-time, Joe Leadley the star man for Wanderers in a below-par display.
Fylingdales 0 Newlands 2 (McCoubrey 2, one pen)
The new management team of Ben Luntley and Ryan Cooper steered Newlands to a 2-0 win at Fylingdales.
Drew McCoubrey put Newlands ahead on the half-hour mark with a penalty and wrapped up the win with his second five minutes from time.
Luntley said: “We missed a few first-half chances which meant they were always in the game but we definitely edged it overall and deserved the win.
“Defender Matthew Griffiths was our man of the match as he was very solid in defence and Jamie Gallagher worked tirelessly in midfield.”
Newlands Reserves 2 (Sanderson 2) Fylingdales Reserves 1 (Winspear)
A Ryan Sanderson double steered Newlands Reserves to a 2-1 home win against Fylingdales Reserves.
Lone striker Sanderson scored either side of half-time to put Dave Gaddass’ team in charge, but 15 minutes from time a superb free-kick from 20 yards by Matt Winspear gave the villagers hope.
The away team also hit the post in the final moments and had a strong penalty appeal turned down, but the centre-back pairing of man of the match Sean Pinder and Ellis Sellars ensured that the home side gained all three points.
Scarborough Sports Barrowcliff 5 (Bowmaker 2, Hannam 2, Hansen) Cayton Corinthians 1 (Holden)
Two goals apiece from Josh Bowmaker and Chris Hannam steered Scarborough Sports Barrowcliff to a 5-1 home win against Cayton Corinthians.
Bowmaker opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a fine finish into the top left corner after fine approach play from midfielders Chris Hannam and Mark Wade.
Five minutes later Hannam made it 2-0 after a superb move involving Wade, Sam Taylor and Bowmaker, then eight minutes later a Hannam chip made it three to the hosts.
Zac Hansen’s fierce free-kick from 20 yards beat the Cayton keeper low to his right-hand side, then Bowmaker’s second made it 5-0 at the half-time interval.
Harry Holden pulled a goal back for the villagers on the hour mark, but despite a late revival from Cayton, man of the match Shaun Wood’s excellent work in the heart of the Sports defence maintained their lead.
