Filey Swimming Club's leading lights hit top form at the annual four-day club championships.
Ninety-seven swimmers took part in the championships, with 233 personal best times and one club record broken.

The record-breaker was Jack Barmby, who took another three tenths of a second off his previous 25 metres freestyle record, finishing in a time of 11.57 sec, for which he received an award.

Results round-up

Overall winners from the girls’ 400m: 1st Sally Mills, 2nd Paige Colling, 3rd Dara Cornwall and 4th Rebecca Colling.

Medals for fastest in age groups: Erin Hope (11), Florence Hargreaves (12), Sian Greenley (13), Paige Colling (14) and Sally Mills (16+).

Overall winners from the boys’ 400m: 1st Jack Barmby, 2nd Joseph White, 3rd Chris Grace and 4th Conor Adnitt.

Medals for fastest in age groups: Fraser Haddington (11), Rhys Colling (12), Conor Adnitt (13), Joseph White (14) and Jack Barmby (16+).

Cups for the Masters’ 400m freestyle were awarded to Tamra Blanchard and Richard Witty.

Swimmers from the B Squad received the medals for the 200m freestyle: 1st Amber Briggs, 2nd Emma Barlow, 3rd Jessica Butcher and 4th Antonia Ellis.

Age group winners: Ellie Gibson (9), Jessica Butcher (10), Emma Barlow (11) and Amber Briggs (12).

The winners for the boys 200m freestyle: 1st Chris Pooley, 2nd Ben Jewison, 3rd Ben Lyon and 4th Joshua Cramp.

Age group winners: William Scott (9), Ben Jewison (10), Kirk Barclay (11) and Chris Pooley (12).

The Beginners Cups (10m race): Tilly Davies and Joseph Butcher; the Improvers Shields (25m race): Lucy Simmons and Harry Simpson.

Trophies for the teaching groups: girls – Shauna Pepe (champion) and Natasha Vernon (runner-up); boys – Declan Allen (champion) and Rowan Bielby and Cameron Bowes (runner-up).

Age group trophies presented as follows: 8 & under girls’ champion: Sarah Tindall runner-up: Rose Baker; 8 & under boys’ champion: Jacob Head, runner-up: James Bowes; 9 & 10 years girls’ champion: Molly Butler, runner up: Ellie Gibson; 9 & 10 years boys’ champion: Ben Jewison, runner-up: Ryan Reynolds; 11 & 12 years girls’ champion: Kerrie Greenley, runner up: Erin Hope; 11 & 12 years boys’ champion: Fraser Haddington, runner-up: Rhys Colling; 13 & 14 years girls’ champion: Paige Colling, runner-up: Sian Greenley; 13 & 14 years boys’ champion: Joseph White, runner-up: Conor Adnitt; 15 & over girls’ champion: Sally Mills, runner-up: Rebecca Colling; 15 & over boys’ champion: Jack Barmby, runner-up: Luke Cornwall.

At the club presentation evening at the Evron Centre, the winners of the Filey Flyer (25m freestyle), Rebecca Colling and Jack Barmby, were each presented with a trophy.

Jack was also presented with the Paul Brown Cup, given for the biggest improvement to a championship record, the distance of the swim being taken into account. This year three records were broken, all by Jack.
