Scarborough suffered a sixth defeat in seven matches against Yorkshire Academy in their Yorkshire Premier League North clash at North Marine Road.

The visitor’s were led by captain Matthew Waite, 74, and posted an impressive 272-5.

Mosum Hussain, 61, also contributed to the total which included 43 from Harry Brook and an unbeaten 37 from Yaaser Imtiaz.

Kristian Wilkinson, Jack Holt, skipper Ben Elvidge and Sam Carver claimed a wicket apiece, while Zimbabwean did for Hussain with a run out.

Oli Stephenson and Alex Carrie started solidly until Carrie feathered through to ex-Scarborough wicket-keeper Jonathan Read with the total on 64.

Stephenson hit 44, number three Mark Tennant made a patient and stubborn 52 not out, with former skipper Neil Elvidge adding 26 as the home side reaching 175-6 by the close with Holt unbeaten on 18 at the crease with Tennant.

Scarborough will be looking to pick up a much-needed win at Dunnington next Saturday.

Three wickets each from Andrew Horner, 3-24, and Josh Jackson, 3-27, helped Woodhouse Grange bowl out visitors Driffield Town for 128.

Driff's total included 56 from Danny Broumpton, which was nowhere near enough to secure victory as they fell 75 runs short after Horner, 48, and Chris Bilton, 46, had earlier helped Grange reach 203-8 despite five wickets from Jamie Hopper, 5-52.
