Guide Dogs need your help

Are you able to give a little time and become a Gude Dog volunteer?

Fundraising in the community can be great fun and a good way to make new friends, it is not just about standing outside a supermarket and rattling a tin.

Charities including Guide Dogs arrange many varied events throughout the year, especially across the summer months.

Here in Scarborough, Guide Dogs already have volunteers but we are desperate to recruit more and are appealing for people who live in Scarborough and the surrounding areas to join the local fundraising branch.

The group needs general volunteers to support their fundraising activities, and to help plan and organise events.

The time commitment is entirely flexible to suit the individual and can be
as much or as little as you like.

One of our volunteers called Steve who is also a guide dog owner said that having a guide dog has completely changed his life. Since he got Guss, he has been able to live and work independently and found it hugely rewarding being a volunteer. He has met lots of new people who have now become his friends.

It costs £55,000 to keep a guide dog over its lifetime and Guide Dogs rely on the fundraising volunteers in each branch to bring in that money.

Please call Ruth Wood on 0345 1430210 or email to find out more about how you can be a volunteer for the Scarborough branch.
