Backing for homes and turbines

PLANS to extend a Filey holiday attraction have been approved.

Scarborough Council chiefs passed proposals to build six detached holiday homes at The Bay, off the A165.

The two-storey cottages will feature four properties with two bedroom and two homes with three bedrooms, on the site of the former Butlins camp.

Planning officials have also given the go ahead for proposals to erect two wind turbines at a Hunmanby farm.

The Gaia turbines, at Stockendale Farm, in Malton Road, stand will stand 25 metres in height and provide 11Kw of power.

The turbines were applied for to offset the carbon emissions and energy bills of the farm, while diversifying its income.
