Scarborough Athletic will welcome full-back Dave Merris and midfielder Jamie Price into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Conference North promotion favourites Harrogate Town.
They will step in to boost Steve Kittrick’s squad, in the absence of Hassan Keita and Liam Ormsby.
Keita was carried out of the midweek outing at Pickering with a fractured bone in his leg, while Ormsby is away on holiday.
Boss Kittrick is also keen to add a couple of central defenders to his squad before the game.
He said: “We need strength in depth. We have that up front and in midfield, but we are just lacking a bit in defence.
“We need two powerhouses, if we can do that then I think we’ll be fine.
“I’m not getting edgy with anything. The Conference starts a week on Saturday, so players will be told they are not required.
“That puts a lot more players in the madness of non-league football, they’ll have to find clubs.”
Harrogate will have a few familiar faces for Boro fans, including manager Simon Weaver, who spent a season at Scarborough FC in the mid-2000s.
His squad also boasts striker Jordan Thewlis, a former Boro attacker, as well as ex-Scarborough Town man Wayne Brooksby.
Kittrick added: “We’ve been privileged with Saturday’s friendly against Harrogate because they are a good club and a good side.
“They will give us a really good test and we’ve got to see what we are about.
“It is all about getting minutes in against good clubs and getting to know one another, especially when we have a new side.
“Hopefully it will all bed in for when the season gets underway in a couple of weeks.”
