HUNMANBY Cancer Fund raised more than £2,800 over the last year, according to secretary Pauline Barber.
The cash was raised from a strawberry tea, a fashion accessory show, a treasure hunt, a slide show, a Christmas coffee morning and individual donations – including 535 from a mini-triathlon staged by a supporter.
The group made its own donations to Marie Curie Cancer Care, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Macmillan Nurses and Hunmanby Surgery, for a syringe-driver for district nurses.
Speaking at the annual parish meeting, Mrs Barber said the group had received many favourable comments about the extra daffodils at the Field of Hope on the corner of Bartindale Road and Hall Park Road.
“This has come to mean a lot to people in the village who have lost loved ones,” she said.
