HUNMANBY Bowling Club hopes its on to a winner following its first all day open pairs bowls competition.
Thirty eight pairs took part in the event at Hunmanby Crown Green Bowling Club in Sands Lane.
The competition was sponsored by Bridlington Caravans Centre and won by North Cliff partnership John Cooper and Richard Thompson.
The event was played in reasonable weather and in the semi-finals Cooper and Thompson beat Dukes Park’s Andrew Deighton and Chris Bielby 21-19 while Park’s Alan Standing and Hunmanby’s Phil Todd beat Hunmanby pairing Lisa Watson and Steve Freer 21-13.
Cooper and Thompson beat Standing and Todd 21-11 in the final.
Mr Todd, committee member of the bowling club, said: “The bowling was of very high standard. Infact you could say that the semi final between Cooper and Thompson against Deighton and Bielby was worthy of any bowling final.
“It was an absolutely splendid game and brilliant bowling. This was the first one in Hunmanby and we’re hoping this could become an annual event.
“We need further sponsorship and if we could get that a better competition could be run.”
