LONG-STANDING members of Filey’s coastguard team are feeling swell after being honoured with special awards.
Officials from the town’s base in The Beach were praised for their tireless service and efforts during a grand evening at Bonhommes Bar.
Filey mayor Cllr Richard Walker was on hand to present the honours, with Station Officer Peter Gray receiving a 40 Year Long Service Medal Award.
John Haxby - who is also a town councillor - was given a 30 Year Long Service Medal Award for his work as Deputy Station Officer, with former Coastguard Rescue Officer Michael Whitehead given the same honour.
Adrian Daniels and Gary Jenkinson, who are both Coastguard Rescue Officers, were handed 20 Year Long Service Medals.
Cllr Walker also presented former Auxiliary Coastguards Michael Whitehead and John Whitehead with valedictory certificates for 30 years and nine years service respectively.
Members of the team were also given competency certificates for work during their time of service.
