A Scarborough man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman who disappeared 14 years ago.
Martin Bell, of St Leonard’s Crescent, appeared before York Magistrates’ Court for a brief hearing this morning, Saturday 12 July.
The 44-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday 15 July.
Gemma Simpson was 23 when she vanished from her home in Leeds in 2000.
She was last spotted in the Harehills area of the city, when she told a friend she was going to Huddersfield.
