STUDENTS at Filey School celebrated the school’s 50th anniversary by taking part in a sponsored walk.
Almost every pupil at the school took part in the walk, which had previously been a long-held tradition at the school.
The return trip from the schools gates to Primrose Valley had been notably absent from the schools calendar over the last few years.
However, staff at the schooldecided to resurrect it to help celebrate the schools half century, and hundreds of pupils made the trip to Primrose Valley via Filey Beach.
Ian Walton, Head of Year 10 for Filey School helped organise the trip, said the fundraising trip was both a huge success and fitting way to celebrate the schools anniversary.
He also said that pupils participating in the walk were a credit to the school, as “a number of members of the community and visitors complemented the students and commented on how they were a credit to the school and their communities.”
Filey School are yet to reveal how much was raised by the walk. However, all the money raised from the sponsored walk will be used to provide reward events for students throughout the year and some of it may help to fund projects organised by the schools Student Leaders and Student Voice.
