School picks governors

FILEY School have announced the appointment of four new Parent Governors to the school’s board.

Following an election, Mrs Butler, Mrs Cormer, Mr Henderson and Mr Pearson were elected following the vote which saw a winning candidate withdraw from the race following the result.

After the withdrawal, the candidate with the fifth highest number of votes was elected in their place.

The election was closed in October. Votes were then counted by headteacher and returning officer Andy Dickinson and the clerk to the governors Ellie Doyle.

Staff governors Nick Messenger and Barry Honeysett presided over the count along with deputy head Tony Ord.

The newly elected governors will serve a two-year term on the governing body.

David Wilson, the chair of governors, said: “The governing body at Filey School is very supportive of the school and it works very closely with our headteacher and other senior staff members to ensure that every child in school really does matter and that all students at Filey School are part of our caring, learning and achieving ethos.”
