RESIDENTS in Filey are able to apply for grants from the company behind the Hunmanby wind farm proposals.
Representatives from Banks Renewables addressed Filey Town Council on Wednesday evening regarding the masts, which they say will be visible from certain parts of Filey.
The news means community groups in Filey will be able to apply for a share of the grants.
Banks have stated that fifty to sixty thousand pounds per year will be made available to groups in Filey and Hunmanby.
Representatives from the group have also stated that around ten to fifteen thousand pounds will be ring fenced for tourism initiatives, and discussions have already been had with Scarboorugh Council, with Banks sayingh the council is receptive to the idea.
The company hopes the money will help counter a possible decline in tourism throughout the area if the masts are put up.
In regards to the masts construction, representatives from Banks said that they have set a provisional target of February or March to formally submit planning application to the council, a move which the group has previously said is an “inevitably.”
Application forms for the grants are available from Filey Council.
