A member of Filey Lions Club has been named as one of two new leaders to drive its growth across the North of England and Scotland.

Lions Club International has appointed David Wilson as District Governor North East and Scotland Region.

Mr Wilson has been a member of Filey Lions Club for 45 years – serving as president five times and secretary four times.

David, who will preside over 34 groups, said: “Like many groups today, with everyone being so busy in their personal lives, we struggle to find new members.

“From taking part in valuable projects in disadvantaged communities to making new friends, being part of a Lions Club is a very rewarding and exhilarating experience.

“One of my main priorities during my year in office will be to take this message out across the region to raise the organisation’s profile and do all I can to increase our membership base.”

Mr Wilson is a member of the National Council of Lions Club International and has vast experience of the global fundraising organisation.

Morley’s Clive Barwell was named as District Governor Yorkshire Region.
