KIND-HEARTED golfers from Filey really got into the swing of it for a fundraiser to help a charity.
Players from Filey Golf Club chipped in to raise £2,412 for the British Heart Foundation after a year of fun events.
Outgoing ladies captain Pat Brown said: “The charity is close to both of our hearts since myself and men’s captain David Gilbank both lost our mothers to heart disease.
“Both were just 59 and it was a great shock to our families.
Mr Gilbank added: “We thoroughly enjoyed fundraising for the British Heart Foundation this year and raised most of the funds through our captains’ night do, golf competitions, raffles, and cake sales at the halfway house – great fun!”
“We would like to thank all Filey Golf Club members for their generosity and support during our year of office and we wish the incoming Captains the best of luck.”
Sharon Oakley, the charity’s fundraising manager for North and East Yorkshire, said: “We would like to thank Filey Golf Club for organising a fantastic year of fundraising activity and for presenting us with such a generous donation”.
