A FILEY teenager has set out on his heroic run of nearly 200 miles in support of the armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Sixteen-year-old Joe Eblet, a former Sea Cadet and FC Filey player, has now left Wootton Bassett as he aims to run all the way to Filey in just a week.
The tough teenager will be joining the Royal Marines in July and said it would be “good practice”.
The idea came to him after watching a documentary about the Wiltshire town which has just been given Royal status for the dignified way it has hosted the repatriation of dozens of UK troops killed on active service in Afghanistan.
Joe said his family had been “really supportive” of his bid and he has already started collecting pledges of sponsorship for his run on Facebook. Sponsor forms will also be distributed to various shops in Filey.
