My grandfather EG Banham served in the RAF in 1918.
He was an officer, joined in 1918 and was shot down and wounded, and then Dad’s Army, 1939-45. There is a photograph taken by a photographer on St Thomas street. The family lived in Scarborough, 1939-45, either Queens Square or Pavilion Square. My mother, sister and brothers lived there with my grandfather and grandmother. He was a Yorkshire man born and bred.
