Letter: Scarborough Market Hall promotion is badly amiss

Intrerior of Scarborough's refurbished market.

The market hall in Scarborough may be “fit for all seasons” (June 7, page 6) and may even win architectural awards, but can it attract sufficient customers to remain viable?

The cheese stall has already disappeared and the coffee seller is about to do the same. These are not the only gaps in suppliers that have appeared. Each time I go there are few people shopping.

While I admire Colin Hitchcock’s optimism as expressed in last week’s article, unless the council do something to draw attention to the market’s excellent facilities I am pessimistic about its survival.
