Man rescued after Brigg fall

A DISABLED man suffered facial injuries and a suspected leg injury after falling on Filey Brigg.

Filey’s inshore lifeboat, Braund, was launched to rescue the man who had slipped over on the end of the Brigg.

A lifeboat spokeswoman said a crew, made up of Coxswain Richard Johnson, Matthew Wilkins, Vanessa Thomas and Michael Pitchforth, helped bring the man ashore in the lifeboat as it was considered safer and easier to do it that way.

She added the casualty was in very good hands as Vanessa Thomas had just qualified as a paramedic and was able to administer first aid to the man.

Filey Lifeboat Coxswain Barry Robson added: “This was a job well done, the man was in very capable hands.”
