New initiative to be launched for rural parents at school

A new initiative is to be launched at Filey School to help youngsters in rural villages with their education.

The ‘Reach Out’ programme is being launched for parents at the school.

The sessions will be
informal and confidential for parents, who will have the opportunity to discuss all aspects of their children’s school life experience, from actual formal education, to sporting activities and social interactions.

A member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team, a Governor and representative of the school pastoral support team will attend these meetings to discuss any problems, suggestions or thoughts the parents may have.

All comments will be recorded and acted upon, and if an answer cannot be given there and then the school promises to provide a written response within a fortnight.

The first session will take place in the function room of the East Riding Inn, in Sherburn, on Thursday October 4, and parents in the surrounding area will receive invites.

Each session will run between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, and it’s hoped that more events will follow.
