Scarborough's Spa Theatre has been closed after a possible asbestos hazard was found in the ceiling.
A number of shows will be moved to other parts of the Spa while investigations take place.
Jo Ager, general manager of Scarborough Spa, said: “Scarborough Spa’s Theatre has been temporarily closed following the possible identification of asbestos above a ceiling panel.
“It is being dealt with accordingly by experts and in the best interests of our staff and customers.
“The Theatre will remain closed while investigations take place. In the meantime, we are working to relocate planned events to other areas within Scarborough Spa.
“The Scarborough Spa’s Orchestra season is unaffected. The Billy Pearce Show will be relocated to the Grand Hall and the Summer Show ‘Movies Meets The Musicals’ will be reprogrammed with the first performance in the Grand Hall on Thursday 2nd of June, followed by a weekly Friday performance until further notice.
“We look forward to welcoming our patrons to the venue as the rest of the building remains open as normal and we are all looking forward to another good summer season.”
