Filey volunteer RNLI crew were called to action to assist a stranded local day angling boat which broke down north of Filey Brig.

Filey’s inshore lifeboat (ILB), Braund, launched shortly before 2.30pm on Friday March 25 following a request from Humber Coastguard to assist the day angling boat “Codaholic”.

The boat had broken down just to the north of Filey Brig with two people on board.

The ILB was crewed by Richard Johnson, Jon Harrison and Fraser Haddington. A tow was quickly connected and the day angling boat was brought safely back to Coble Landing, Filey.

John Ward, Lifeboat Press Officer said: “This was a straight-forward towing job for the ILB and is something that the crew train for each week. The boat owner did the right thing to contact the Coastguards when he could not start his engine.”
