STEVE KITTRICK: Vital we all stick together

I think you have to look at the positives from our two games over the Bank Holiday weekend.

We picked up four points from two games and going into the weekend you would have possibly taken that from a home and an away fixture.

Our aim is for two points per game and that fits into that bracket.

You can read into pre-season what you want, but it has been clear to see that the injuries we picked up during that period have devastated us.

Despite that, we have stuck together as a group and we are heading in the right direction.

If we had got the three points on Monday at Goole then we would have been in the top four, but they were no mugs and they will take points off teams this season.

We are getting closer to getting everyone back, it would just be nice to be able to field the sides that we were putting out in pre-season.

Craig Nelthorpe is missing on Saturday at Kendal due to suspension for being stupid against Colwyn Bay, but Benny Igiehon is back from his, which gives us a boost.

We have Jamie Price and Chris Bolder back in for the game as well, which brings in a bit more experience and game management.

I’d love to have a run of four or five games with our first-choice team out there, just so we can see what we are capable of.

If we had a player like Alhassane Keita out there on Monday against Goole then I think it would have been a different game.

His pace, power and lack of respect for all and sundry will completely cut through this division. We have a bit of time to wait, but he and a number of other players are pushing on towards fitness.

We have been boosted this week by the deadline day signing of Jameel Ible and maybe a couple more will come in as well.

He is a very good player who I am looking forward to seeing in a Scarborough shirt.

You can’t stand still, you have to keep adding bits here and there.

I thought the returning Niall Flint was a breath of fresh air when he came on against Goole. He is another attacking option for us.

I spoke to a few people at Goole after the game on Monday, they said that we had a great support, we just have to get that belief.

If we can get that both on and off the park then it will be a huge help for this club.
