Three new teams joined The Scarborough News Sunday League at Wednesday night's AGM and more could follow.

Angel Athletic, Scalby and Ayton Reserves were all voted into the constitution, while Scarborough Flyer will have to wait to see if they are added.

Flyer, who would be managed by Nige Trotter and Billy-Joe Johnson, submitted their apologies to the member clubs, who will vote on them by email once the pub side are interviewed by the league.

New Tavern, who had also applied, failed to show on the night, so they were discounted.

Angel will be run by Gary Thomas and Dan Jones, Ayton are bossed by Steven Frederiksen and Tim Hick, while Scalby are a progression of their junior side.

The door is not yet shut for other clubs, as league chairman Mark Plumpton will be attending the Minor League AGM to encourage more junior teams to evolve into senior football.

The additions of the new teams pushed Division One up to nine, while Division Two had eight at the close of the meeting, pending a decision on Scarborough Flyer.

In other news, league secretary Tony Walker informed member clubs that he will be stepping down at the end of the new campaign and that they need to look for a successor.
