Town set for allotment day

FILEY Allotment and Garden Association are holding their annual open day today.

The free event takes place in the group’s base in Muston Road, and is for gardeners across the area to show off their fine fayre.

Classes will include fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, home produce, handicrafts and junior sections.

Each exhibit is 20 pence, though junior classes are free.

Staging of entries were due to take place yesterday and again this morning between 8am and 9.30am.

Judging is due to follow until around 10.45am, with the day officially opened by Filey mayor Cllr Richard Walker.

The day will also see a number of stalls, with a bric-a-brac sale, a fruit and vegetable stall, tombola, raffle and books as well as other stalls.
