THE wet weekend might have stopped some events in Filey but one musical group were still in tune despite the rain.
The Scarborough Concert Band were forced indoors to Filey Methodist Church from the Crescent Gardens bandstand at the last minute on Sunday.
However, the band still played an extensive repertoire of slower numbers including New Zealand love song, Pokarekare Ana, My Heart Will Go On and Singing in the Rain.
Jan Corrie, the band’s press officer, said: “Despite the weather the concert was well attended and the audience showed great appreciation of the talent and professionalism of the band.”
l Another event to escape problems despite the rain was the Friends of Filey Parks annual mammal trapping weekend.
Linda Cooke, Chair of Friends of Filey Parks, said: “It was a great event as always and all the people who braved the elements to come had a great time.
“It is a way to learn about nature while having fun and we will continue to run these kinds of events as they benefit the whole community.”
