As a huge fan of Scarborough and someone who visits whenever possible, I noted with interest, the article on the untreated scale of bird droppings and how it impacts upon the appearance of your largely lovely town.
I recently brought a party of schoolchildren to Scarborough and thought it would be a good idea to show them around.
Imagine their horror at the awful area around the Grand Hotel, which seems to be thick with seagull excrement.
The same could be said for other areas too.
Clearly, the problem of seagull numbers and their behaviour is a wider issue, but it is such a pity that those who run the town are unable to fund a radical clean up of this disgusting mess.
I know how hard the town tries to market itself and attract visitors.
I will always visit your town, but I fear that many will not, unless there is a radical clean up.
Many thanks for your work in highlighting the issue.
