Flixton have booked their path through to face Staxton in the final of the Evening League AndyHire Cup final after beating Heslerton by seven wickets in the semi-final.
That meeting will take place at North Marine Road, Scarborough on Friday July 25, getting underway at 6pm.
Heslerton won the toss and elected to bat in the semi-final and were held back by early tight bowling from brothers Michael Hunter and Will Hunter with Will taking the early wicket of Heslerton’s Australian Michael Dawson.
Anthony Stones and Kristian Wilkinson moved the score along, and when Stones was out Wilkinson was joined by Sam Triffitt, who also got in the groove to move the score along briskly.
Wilkinson was run out late in the innings after scoring a wonderful 74 runs and Sam Triffitt ended up with 23 not out.
The Flixton bowlers Mike and Will Hunter took 1-24 and 1-16 respectively, while Ben Elvidge took 1-21.
Heslerton’s total at the end of their allotted 15 eight-ball overs was 124-4.
In reply Flixton openers Oliver Stephenson and Stuart Stocks coasted away with a 92-run partnership. Stephenson scored a wonderful 54 runs with some great shots before finally being caught and bowled with a super catch from Tom Benthall.
Stocks then went on to hit 51 though he was caught needing just two runs to win the game.
Flixton won with two full overs left of their innings.
The pick of the Heslerton bowlers was Benthall with 2-14.
