Four of Heslerton’s junior teams visited opponents from Kirkbymoorside in the Scarborough & District Minor League this weekend.
Heslerton under-11s returned to winning ways against a battling Kirkbymoorside team.
Sam Owen set the tone for the visitors with a surging run ending with a dipping drive, before providing the through-ball for Tom Allan to add a second.
Josh Dolan struck a third and Ethan Smith beat the offside trap to sidefoot past the advancing keeper.
In the second half a Dolan volley and a David Hebron tap-in completed the scoring, after more good work from Smith.
At the back for Heslerton, man of the match Finn Bricusse ensured a clean sheet.
Heslerton under-eights travelled to Kirkby.
The hosts started brightly and found themselves a goal up at half-time through a fantastic finish.
Despite Heslerton making several changes at the break more goals followed for Kirkby, although Heslerton kept battling until the end.
Myles Johnson secured the man of the match award.
The second game was much tighter as Kirkby raced into a two-goal lead before some great passing and a cross from Mat Moss resulted in Rio Howden tapping home.
Charlie Swiers won the man of the match award for Heslerton.
Heslerton under-nines also made the trip to Kirkby to tackle a well-organised home team.
The visitors started well and came close through debutant Luke Tindall.
Against the run of play Kirkby took the lead with a good breakaway goal.
This seemed to spark the home team into life as they poured pressure on the Heslerton goal, but good defensive work by Noah Garnett and Oliver Barnett kept Kirkby out.
Just before half-time Kirkby extended their lead.
The hosts were in control for most of the second half and had good chances to extend their lead but Oliver Harrison made good saves to keep the score down.
Heslerton’s man of the match award went to a deserved Adam Meynell for his hard work and great tackling.
Also making the trip to Kirkby were Heslerton under-10s.
A fine display of superb defending was produced by Heslerton’s Jimmy Martin and man of the match Jak Dixon with keeper Ben Peckitt making several outstanding saves.
Defenders Dylan Fawcett and Cihan Eroglu tackled with great determination.
Joe Pearce and George Heap ran the field, passing with precision, and making Kirkby work hard.
The second half saw some great changes with an extremely unfortunate miss from striker Pearce, and Hayden Williamson displaying great stamina.
Charlie Richardson scored, only to have his goal disallowed.
Heslerton under-sevens hosted Thornton-le-Dale in an entertaining shootout
The hosts created several chances before Warren Stanton gave Heslerton a half-time lead
Oscar Webb scored a second before Thornton replied.
Oliver Dade restored Heslerton’s two goal advantage before an own goal completed the victory.
The whole team shared the Heslerton star man award.
The second game saw man of the match Webb scoring his first hat-trick for the club.
Thornton-le-Dale under-nines lost 4-1 and drew 0-0 in their games at Seamer.
In the first game Dale man of the match Harry Bevan scored Thornton’s goal with a fierce 25-yard free-kick.
The second game finished 0-0, and this was a fully deserved result as the whole Thornton team played brilliantly to restrict Seamer to long distance shots which keeper Nathan Campbell and his defence stood firm.
Reese Kelly picked up the man of the match award.
Pickering Town under-11s completed an impressive 11-2 victory against Bishopthorpe WR Purple to remain unbeaten on the York Mitchell League division four.
There were four goals for Archie Hoggarth, a hat-trick from Nathan Williams and one each for Matty Cooper, Aidan Williams, Charlie Monkman and an own goal.
George Hodgson put in a captain’s performance in midfield and defence and Will Edwards was named man of the match.
