FC FILEy under-16s are back in cup action tomorrow afternoon, and will be looking to secure their second final berth in as many weeks.

The Filey side won 7-3 last week in their Scarborough Minor League Cup semi-final at Cayton Cougars, and tomorrow they will make the trip to Helmsley to face Duncombe Park in the last four of the Scarborough & District FA Senior Minor Cup, sponsored by A to Z Comprehensive Community Carers.

Last weekend, Jamie Cornish’s second-half hat-trick steered FC Filey to a 7-3 win at Cayton Cougars in the under-16s League Cup semi-final.

An Aaron Howard double put the visitors 2-0 ahead early on, Howard’s first a header and the second a neat finish after a defensive mix-up.

Adam Robertshaw converted Zac Hansen’s precise corner to give Cayton hope but further goals from Lewis Adams and Joe Eblet made it 4-1 to Filey.

TJ Duggan’s long-range shot reduced the deficit just before half-time.

James Ledden struck in a re-bound after more fine work from Hansen to make it 4-3 early in the second half, but then Cornish struck his hat-trick in the final 10 minutes - all three of them being counter-attacking goals with Cougars looking to get back into the game - to secure the final spot for Filey. Harry Holden impressed for the Cougars, while Joe Eblet had an outstanding game in the centre of midfield for the visitors.
