Scarborough Ladies under-14s reached the NRCFA County Cup final for the second year in a row after a comprehensive victory over Cleveland Juniors Scorpions.
Boro under-14s were 3-2 down at half-time despite goals from Emily Lewis and Olivia Smith, but they rallied in the second half and recorded a 7-3 victory.
Smith bagged her hat-trick, with Anna O’Connor scoring twice and Leah Dobson scoring to secure the win and a trip to Stokesley for the final on Sunday April 17 against Cleveland Juniors Terriers (kick-off TBC).
The under-16s came very close, drawing their semi-final tie 1-1 against South Park Rangers and only missing out on the final on penalties.
Liv Hall had scored in the first half before South Park equalised in the second period. At full-time the game ended in stalemate, and penalties ensued.
Boro keeper Sasha Woods saved one of the South Park penalties, but two misses from Boro meant the victor was the side from Middlesbrough.
In the third county cup semi-final to be played at Sherburn last Saturday the under-12s came up against a very strong Boro Rangers side.
The visitors won this tie 5-1, with the only consolation for the home team being Daisy Stokoe’s 25th goal of the season.
There are no fixtures for any of the club’s sides this weekend, due to the Easter festivities, while some of the age groups prepare to travel to Disneyland Paris next week for entry into an international tournament for the second year in succession.
The senior side got back on track with an 8-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Huntington at Sherburn Playing Fields.
Hat tricks from top-scorer Chloe Marshall and Aimee Ireland - her first goals of the season - as well as single goals from Maria Jagger and Chloe Bennett, were enough, with the defence earning plaudits for a clean sheet requested by the coaching staff.
This was a comprehensive victory for the home side, in a game played in good spirits and in the right manner against a plucky side who never gave up despite their number and league position.
The side’s next game is in two weeks time, when South Park Rangers visit Sherburn on April 3.
