SCARBOROUGH Town have appointed Shaun Rennison as their new manager.

Rennison, who played 150 games for the former Scarborough club, has been managing Saturday League side Cayton Corinthians for the past few seasons.

One of Rennison’s first duties will be to host a trial evening at the University of Hull (Scarborough campus) on Wednesday. This event starts at 6.30pm and is open to any local players.

Rennison’s appointment follows a flow of names being linked with the club, who were accepted into the Humber Premier first division last week. Among these was former Edgehill manager Sean Chapman, who has since joined Scarborough Athletic’s coaching set-up.

Club secretary Sean Hunter said: “We’ve done the approaching, but we are delighted to have Shaun on board.

“He came to see us midway through the week and he said that he sees the role as an opportunity.

“We are hoping to confirm his assistant over the next few days.”

Town had been forced to postpone their opening two friendly games of their pre-season campaign.

Their opener was set to be at Selby Town today, and their clash at home to Barton Town has also been called off.

Town’s first friendly will now take place on July 13 when they play host to Redcar Athletic.

They are also poised to tackle Pontefract, Huntington Rovers, Handsworth, Pickering Town and Knaresborough Town.
