Steve Wilson and Gaz Clayton will be back at Scarborough Athletic for the 2014-15 campaign.

Keeper Wilson will return as goalkeeping coach and player, while Clayton will slot into the squad as a defender.

Both played a part in Boro’s promotion from the NCEL in 2012-13, but departed during that season.

Boss Funk said: “Things are slowly slotting into place and we are hoping to have a few more players in by the end of the week.

“We are delighted to have Steve and Gaz back to the club though, both of them are welcome additions.

“Steve comes in as goalkeeping coach for Jason White, though he will play if he is required.

“I have kept in touch with Gaz since he left the club and we all know that he is a decent defender and a decent footballer.

“Things didn’t work out last time because he was struggling with a hip injury, but that has cleared up now and he is raring to go.”

Clayton and Wilson will be joining the rest of the players on the Cruise and Kit Launch event, which takes place on Friday June 13.

The evening will begin with a sail along the Yorkshire coast on the Regal Lady, which will set sail from Scarborough Harbour’s middle pier at 8pm, expecting to return to at 9.30pm.

A prize raffle will take place during the night and the vessel holds a fully licensed bar. Tickets are charged at £5.

Funk added: “We are all looking forward to the night, it will be nice to see the fans and we hope as many as possible turn out.”
