Scarborough RUFC’s new signing Isaac Faamau is aiming to hit the ground running and has promised to bring an aggressive approach to Silver Royd.

The Kiwi number eight will have to wait a week for his debut with the club not having a game this weekend, but that doesn’t bother Faamau, who will turn his attentions to watching his native All Blacks take on Australia in the World Cup final.

Faamau said: “It’s great to finally be here.

“I’ve got itchy feet to get going and get out there on the pitch, but it’s good that I can watch us beat Australia in the final on Saturday.”

The giant forward is aiming to bring an aggressive approach to Silver Royd, admitting that he is keen to get stuck into Yorkshire One action, starting with York away a week on Saturday.

“I’m an aggressive player and I love running with the ball and love attacking,” added the 26-year-old.

Faamau will have a familiar face in the Silver Royd changing rooms in fellow Kiwi Harry Domett.

He added: “I played representative rugby with Harry in New Zealand, he’s a good player and I’m looking forward to playing with him again here.”

Skipper Tom Ratcliffe admits Faamau’s aggressive approach will add something new to the side and is looking forward to seeing the New Zealander unleashed on the field.

Ratcliffe said: “It will be great to see what Isaac can do.

“We’ll look to try and feed him in and see what damage he can cause.

“Hopefully some of our younger players will learn a thing or two as well. It freshens things up and will give everyone a boost too.”
