SPECTATORS who braved the bitter cold on Sunday saw a clash of champions in the final of the North Cliff BC singles merit competition - three-times Champion of Champions Geoff Watson versus current champion David Lowe.

At the semi-final stage Watson beat Kevin Gates 21-17 while Lowe beat Deighton 21-15 in the other half of the draw.

Watson never really got into his stride in the final and Lowe’s consistency earned him a deserved 21-11 victory.
