SCARBOROUGH IBC men’s team in the Hebden Trophy just lost out in a hard fought match against Doncaster, two rinks at home and two away.

Both Scarborough’s home rinks were successful: Joseph Mann, Alan Horton, George Hodgson and skip Les Banks taking a 13-0 lead after seven ends and 21-1 after 13 ends and finishing 25-11 ahead, while George Preston, David Sessions, John Hollings and skip Alan Hopkins stuck to it and recovered from 13-12 in arrears after 15 ends to grab a 19-16 victory.

Things did not go so well at Doncaster, however, and defeats by 30-15 and 18-13 resulted in the Doncaster team taking the honours 12-6 , the 75-72 aggregate advantage giving them the six bonus points.

On Sunday, 10am to 6pm, the annual Spring Tournament will be held at the bowls centre.
