Scarborough Pirates overcame a slow start to beat Normanton Knights 34-0 and set up a title decided against Moldgreen this Saturday.

Adam Lee’s charges conceded needless penalties early on, but learned from their mistakes and were soon in dominant form, Billy Parker crashing over after man of the match Lee had worked a good position from dummy half.

The Pirates’ forward pack were dominating and making good drives, Dave Douthwaite, Kieran Tindall, Jack Johnson and Nathan Hakings all standing out.

Harry Sleep then produced a moment of magic, spotting the full-back out of position before chipping into the corner and going over himself as James Millward added the extras for 10-0 at half-time.

Normanton almost hit back after the interval but a knock-on cost them dearly and the Pirates rallied, Lee crashing over under pressure.

Millward then fed Oliver Battye to out-gun the full-back to go over, before the Knights re-start was lobbed straight to Sam Hakings, who drew his man before laying on to Tom Jenkinson, who showed a clean pair of heels to a Knights man to add to their tally.

Jack Hakings then wrapped up the scoring as he powered over late on.

The Pirates tackle Moldgreen at Eastway this Saturday in a bid to pick up the title, the game starts at 1pm and the Challenge Cup Final will be screened afterwards.
