Scarborough’s George Rhodes Jnr was left disappointed after his draw with Steven Backhouse at Barnsley Metrodome on Friday night.
The Scarborough welterweight wasn’t at his best as he made his return to the ring after a lay-off due to a wrist injury and was forced to dig deep to avoid defeat against Backhouse.
“I didn’t box that great, but I thought I’d won three of the four rounds - It is what it is though,” said Rhodes.
“He landed the bigger shots, but I thought I was the cuter boxer and beat him to the punch most of the time, he was just catching me with stupid counter shots.
“He was no world beater, and over six rounds I’m confident I was getting the better of him and would’ve won.”
The Scarborough welterweight is now keen on a rematch with Backhouse.
He added: "“I’d like the rematch so I can get the job done properly and move on.
“That’ll be up to my promoter Dave (Coldwell) though, but I want to get back out as soon as possible to put that performance behind me.”
